On Tuesday, July 19th, 2016 the whole of Tarvin Primary School assembled in the woodland for the annual presentation. The headmaster, Andrew Davies, started by saying how useful the woodland is as a resource for the school and also thanked the trustees for all the work they do to develop and maintain the woodland. The award selection process had involved input from both teachers and parents so that both in school and out of school activities were considered. The decision process had not been easy but one person had stood out as this year’s winner.
He announced that Cara Mulligan of year 4 was the winner for 2016 and read out the citation that had been fixed into the commemorative book that is on permanent display in the school’s entrance hall. Cara has always had a great interest in wildlife as well as some gardening.
Stuart Exell, Chairman of the Trustees, presented Cara with her certificate, a commemorative plaque and a book token.
A group of year 5 girls had organised a cake sale that raised £80 for the woodland. They presented it to Stuart Exell.
