On Thursday, 18th July, 2019 it had looked as though the weather would cause the presentation to take place in the school hall but in the event the whole school assembled in the woodland as usual. This year, the event was hosted by Mrs Ruth Cadwallader, deputy head, in Andrew Davies’s absence.
Wednesday, July 25th, 2018 the heatwave continued and the whole of Tarvin Primary School assembled in the woodland for the annual presentation. Mrs Cadwallader talked about how the school uses the woodland as a resource and how lucky they are to have it adjacent to the playing field. Class groups visit the woodland and, again, year one had made visits to understand the changing seasons as part of Key Stage 1 Science.
She announced that Freddie Parr of year 5 was the winner for 2019 and read out the citation that had been fixed into the commemorative book that is on permanent display in the school. Freddie walks to school every day through the woodland and spends much time there with his dog, recording their adventures. He is interested in wildlife and birds and has made a presentation to the school on his experiences, encouraging others to use the woodland.
Charles Bradley, Secretary of the Trustees, presented Freddie with his certificate, a commemorative plaque and a book token.
