Nest Box Summary 2018
Results for 2018
Peter Maiden, the village Tree Warden and carer for our woodland bird boxes has completed his survey and has now reported on this year’s usage of the boxes. There are 56 boxes at present. Five of them are intended for large birds, three for tawny owls and two for woodpeckers; all of these have remained unoccupied. It is difficult to persuade these birds to take up residence - doing so may take many years before we are successful and so we aren’t downhearted at our lack of success thus far.
All the boxes have been emptied and cleaned and the birds will now use these boxes as safe winter roost sites.
