The following grants were received in the year ending February 2010

** The Trust again applied to the CSV Action Earth project sponsored by Morrisons supermarkets and in April 2009 a further award of £50 was made for timber to continue fencing the newly designated footpath that bounds the woodland.  This year we were one of only 900 successful applicants.

.** There is a problem with some sections of the footpath during wet weather when it gets muddy.  A grant of £750 from the O2 “It’s your community” scheme will enable us to do some remedial work on the drainage to improve the footpath.  Details of our project may be seen on their web-site

** Tarvin Parish Council has given £1,000 as an annual contribution to the basic running costs of the Trust.  These include insurances and memberships.

** The Trust has received £500 from Tarvin Women’s Institute and Yorkshire Tea at a recent Remembrance Day ceremony.  WI secretary Joan Bradley had applied for the bursary from Taylor’s of Harrogate, which produces Yorkshire Tea.  WI president Elizabeth Brereton presented the cheque to the Trust founder, Jim Grogan, at a yew tree planted five years ago by members of Tarvin’s WI.  Jim said that by nominating the woodland for an award, the WI had again demonstrated its support for the woodland and the money would be used to complete the fence along the Townfield Lane footpath.
